In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, I share a solo episode that extends on some of the themes from episode 039, Good Is Not Always Good Enough.

In that episode, I spoke about the idea that sometimes what you are doing is good, but not good enough for the next level. This episode takes that idea one step further by looking at the gap between perception and reality.

Because sometimes the issue is not just what you are doing, but how accurately you are seeing what you are doing.

Your perception is powerful, but it is not always accurate.

In this episode, I talk about how the story you tell yourself can shape the way you respond to your effort, progress, discipline and results. Some people believe they are doing everything, but when you look closer, there are gaps they have not seen yet. Others feel like they are failing, when in reality, they are building habits, improving, and doing better than they give themselves credit for.

I also share a personal story from my own fitness journey, where I thought I was doing everything I needed to do to build muscle. I was eating healthier, prepping meals, training hard, and following the idea of being in a calorie surplus, but looking back, I can see that I understood the concept without fully understanding the application.

Key topics include
 • the gap between perception and reality
 • why your perception is powerful, but not always accurate
 • thinking you are doing everything, but missing key details
 • why nutrition and tracking errors are more common than people realise
 • why different goals require different levels of discipline
 • how the standard needs to match the goal
 • focusing too much on scale weight and missing the habits being built
 • why post show or post goal phases can feel like failure
 • learning from mistakes without becoming a victim
 • the role of coaching in helping people see clearly
 • checking the evidence before believing the story
 • what it means to be PRO in your own world

At the heart of this episode is a simple reminder.

Before you decide you are doing everything, check the evidence.

Before you decide you are failing, check the evidence.

Because if you cannot see clearly, you cannot respond properly.

Whether you are working towards a physique goal, trying to lose body fat, building muscle, competing, transitioning out of a big goal, or simply trying to become better in your own world, this episode will help you look at your progress with more honesty, more ownership and more perspective.
